PZP: The Elephant in the Room
An oldie (sort of; does 4 years count as old?), but a goodie.
“If you had a patient with a severed artery would you tourniquet the limb before addressing internal injuries? Or would you let the patient bleed out while you argue if you need x rays or a CT scan? PZP is a tourniquet to stop the bleed of wild horses leaving the range while we address other issues. Plain and simple.”
A proposal given in August of this year by Jeanne Nations of the NE Nevada Resource Advisory Council (RAC) and Laura Leigh of Wild Horse Education was barely noticed. However in October, right before the major “giving season” for non profits,
Add Chickens to Humane Methods of Slaughter Act by MonocerosArts, journal
Add Chickens to Humane Methods of Slaughter Act
Did you know that the United States Department of Agriculture has decided that the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act doesn’t apply to poultry, who make up 98 percent of all land animals slaughtered for food? As a result, nearly 9 billion animals each year are killed in the most horrific and brutal ways.
Please take 20 seconds to speak out against this unconscionable animal abuse by signing Mercy For Animals’ petition calling on the USDA to start protecting chickens, turkeys, and all other poultry under the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act: https://www.change.org/p/tell-usda-protect-poultry-under-the-humane-slaughter-act-now?recruite
Cecil's Son 'Xanda' Shot and Killed by MonocerosArts, journal
Cecil's Son 'Xanda' Shot and Killed
"Yay, Cecil, eh? We're looking for his brother now. [Laughter]"
Cecil the lion's six-year-old son, Xanda, has been killed almost exactly on the second anniversary of his own death, which caused international outcry over the cruelty of trophy hunting.
Just like Cecil, Xanda, a young father himself, was lured away from the safety of a national park in Zimbabwe. Also like Cecil, Xanda was wearing a research collar and was an important part of a long-term study on lions. Killing Cecil and Xanda shows a blatant disregard for these imperiled lions; it amounts to the unnecessary killing of majestic creatures just for bragging rights and a head-hun
Eliminate Wildlife Services Predator Control by MonocerosArts, journal
Eliminate Wildlife Services Predator Control
The U.S. Department of Agriculture wastes millions of taxpayer dollars every year by conducting ruthless and indiscriminate predator control programs, which amass a body count of more than two million bears, bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions, wolves and other wild animals.
Unfortunately, wild animals are not the only victims. Unintended targets -- even humans, endangered species, and pets -- have also been killed. A 14-year-old boy nearly lost his life in March after accidentally setting off an M-44 set by Wildlife Services in Pocatello, Idaho. Earlier this year, fourteen-year-old Canyon Mansfield was walking his family yellow Labrador named

Trump Adviser Who Supports Animal Cruelty Must Be Dropped
A handpicked adviser to Donald Trump supports horrific factory farming practices, cruel puppy mills, and displaying elephants in circuses. Our ForceChange community has spoken out against letting this person influence U.S. policy, but he remains on the committee that will set the White House's agenda now that Trump has won the election. This petition is not an attack on Trump, but rather his adviser.
Now that Trump has been elected president, we need to spread the word about Forrest Lucas, the founder of Protect the Harvest, an organization that fights to oppose animal welfare laws a

A Bright Future for Colorado Mustangs
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Colorado is making significant strides in the right direction in caring for and managing its free-roaming horse herds! Thanks to fertility control (mainly PZP), the BLM Colorado has been able to greatly reduce the number of helicopter roundups needed, and, in some Herd Management Areas (such as Spring Creek Basin HMA), has been able to completely stop all helicopter roundups. Instead of conducting inhumane and ineffective roundups with helicopters to keep Mustang populations under control, the BLM in Colorado is working to use fertility control as its main method of management, supplementing it occasiona

Help Dry Up Arkansas Puppy Mills!
Click here to sign the petition to demand that Arkansas pet stores do not sell from puppy mills!
Phoenix, Beverly Hills, and about 60 other cities across the U.S. have all passed laws making it illegal for pet stores to sell any cats or dogs that don't come from a shelter or rescue. These laws are saving thousands of animals' lives.
When Ben Martin read Zach Raderstorf's Care2 petition demanding that Indiana adopt a pet store law, he knew that he had to take a similar action in his state. Please sign Ben's Care2 petition to institute a statewide law in Arkansas requiring that all cats and dogs sold in pet shops come from a shelter or rescue
